It's been busy at work so editing pictures and videos from the weekend took some time. Nevertheless, I'm excited to share the following things I've been up to. 

* Picasso at the Winnipeg Art Gallery - Selected Picasso pieces can be viewed currently here in the city. I took the opportunity to attend Feast@Wag, which consisted of a 3-course Mediterranean dinner followed by a special tour of the Picasso exhibit. The exhibition itself runs until August 13.

* Up Dharma Down concert - I saw this Filipino band perform at the Pyramid Cabaret downtown and it was just nostalgic to listen to their songs. I used to listen to their music when I was still in university back in the Philippines and they sounded incredible live! 

* Sprucewoods Provincial Park - I spent almost the entire Sunday hiking with my friends through both the Spirit Sands and Devils Punch Bowl trails. Amidst my sore body, the views in this hike were amazingly worth it. There were sand dunes, grasslands, prairie fields, streams and a river lookout. I can't believe we had those kinds of views in the province. I totally recommend the entire experience.

This marks my first post since the city received a generous amount of snow, so excuse the shortage of my ootd pics! In the meantime, I've started to look for some indoor events to keep me and this blog busy. Aside from the numerous holiday markets happening, I also discovered Sing Out, Louise - an intimate event gathering showtune fans all over the city. Once a month, this group provides a mic, an accompanist and a theme for avid musical theatre artists. Fools and Horses, located aptly along Broadway Ave, hosts the event in their space while serving your favourite drinks from beer, wine, coffee & tea. Oh and did I mention that this was free? So whether you want to participate as a performer or just as a member of the audience, Sing Out Louise is a wonderful local event to attend. A few weeks ago, a friend and I decided to spend a Saturday around the Exchange District. This area might be my favourite here in the city. It's vibrant and booming during the summer time but there's a misconception that there isn't much to do here during winter. I totally disagree. Here are pictures-per-hour type of post to share with you how we spent our winter day at the Exchange. 

9:00am - Start the day right with a Parlour Coffee latte, Jonnies sticky bun & Oh Doughnuts!

10:00am - Venture into the streets & discover that the Exchange is a photographer's dream!

11:00am - If you enjoy vinyl records, Into the Music would be your favourite store! 

12:00nn - Can't miss Tiny Feast with its pretty stationeries, greeting cards & the cutest gift ideas.

1:00pm - Lunch at Deer+Almond doesn't disappoint. Make sure to check out their daily feature!

Other lunch spots to consider: King+Bannatyne, Peasant Cookery or Across the Board

2:00pm - Contemporary furniture stores, like 84 1/2 & Hut K, are scattered around the Exchange.

3:00pm - Visit one of the many art galleries here like Actual (featured here).

Also visit: Raw, Gurevich and Fleet Galleries. Or try First Fridays Winnipeg!

4:00pm - Go around, get shots of cool graffiti walls & murals. There's always something new!

We also decided to call it a day after this since we still had other plans for the night. I hope you enjoyed coming along with us in our Exchange District adventure!
