Because I've been mentally drained with work related things, I'd rather keep this post in phrases rather than a proper paragraph. Here's how the weekend has been in this prairie city.

- taking advantage of the glorious golden hour for ootds -

A few weeks ago, a friend and I decided to spend a Saturday around the Exchange District. This area might be my favourite here in the city. It's vibrant and booming during the summer time but there's a misconception that there isn't much to do here during winter. I totally disagree. Here are pictures-per-hour type of post to share with you how we spent our winter day at the Exchange. 

9:00am - Start the day right with a Parlour Coffee latte, Jonnies sticky bun & Oh Doughnuts!

10:00am - Venture into the streets & discover that the Exchange is a photographer's dream!

11:00am - If you enjoy vinyl records, Into the Music would be your favourite store! 

12:00nn - Can't miss Tiny Feast with its pretty stationeries, greeting cards & the cutest gift ideas.

1:00pm - Lunch at Deer+Almond doesn't disappoint. Make sure to check out their daily feature!

Other lunch spots to consider: King+Bannatyne, Peasant Cookery or Across the Board

2:00pm - Contemporary furniture stores, like 84 1/2 & Hut K, are scattered around the Exchange.

3:00pm - Visit one of the many art galleries here like Actual (featured here).

Also visit: Raw, Gurevich and Fleet Galleries. Or try First Fridays Winnipeg!

4:00pm - Go around, get shots of cool graffiti walls & murals. There's always something new!

We also decided to call it a day after this since we still had other plans for the night. I hope you enjoyed coming along with us in our Exchange District adventure!

I wasn't supposed to include an ootd but I was able to ask a friend's fiancé to take shots of me with his new camera. His name is Kelvin. He lives in Toronto. And, you can see more of his work here.

Last Friday, the boy and I went on a double date with our friends, Arianne & Kelvin. I was looking for something to do in the city since Kelvin was just visiting from Toronto. I figured since he hasn't been to the Exchange District, it was the perfect time to join the First Fridays walking tour. The basic idea here is that artists open their studios to the public and art galleries have extended hours during first fridays of the month. You can download a map from their site and visit the spots on your own or you can join a guided tour that meets up at 7pm in the Peasant Cookery Bar.

For this particular one that I attended, we were able to see four artists/studios
1. Dave Krindle - Pigeon Alley Pottery
2. Sue Gordon - Encaustic (resin, beeswax & pigment)
3. Karen Schulz - drawings, paintings
4. Noel Bebee - digital paintings

Every month, there would be some variation with the galleries featured or the artists that would be part of the guided tour. So if you find yourself here in the city, free on a first friday of the month, why not check this out (hit me up if you want company, yes?).
