some pictures ℅ Erika (thanks MOH!)
The amount of pictures in this post basically sums up how this night went down. Last week, I had the chance to attend the Norwest Co-op Art of Good Food Fundraiser, held at the beautiful Qualico Centre in Assiniboine Park. It gathered the city's best chefs and selected artists to a night of food tastings and live art auctions. With my love for everything local, you know I couldn't pass this one up. I could go on telling you how much I loved everything I ate, but I think it's also great to know that the event was all for a good cause. Norwest Co-op is a non-profit organization that offers health and wellness programs to the Winnipeg community. For more information on what they do and even on how to volunteer, you can check their website here.

Aahh life lately…
Unlike January, this month is proving to be uneventful. This is exactly what I ended up talking about with Winnipeg blogger, Michelle (FullWPG) a few days ago. We decided to catch up at the Raw Almond Skate Up Brunch hosted by Tallest Poppy over the weekend. The 4-course meal included Red River Cereal with Berry Peach compote, Mexican Veggie Hash, Sweet Waffle & Duck and Sweet Bread Dessert. Overall, it was a great experience and a good value for money ($30 per person). They are doing it again this weekend so if you happen to be a local reader and can go to The Forks, then I highly suggest checking out the Raw Almond Skate Up Brunch!

On a cold day, I rolled myself out of bed to go and grab breakfast at The Tallest Poppy. I have never tried this eatery when it was still located along Main St, but have always heard of great things about their food. They have reopened last year and have found a new home along West Broadway. Now, they not only serve daytime comfort food, but also have extended hours for dinner and have a lounge bar for drinks. When I went here, I was determined to try their Chicken & Waffles and boy, did it not disappoint. It doesn't come then as a surprise to have this place packed during breakfast/lunch hours. I would definitely recommend The Tallest Poppy to anyone who wants home-style food here in the city.
