Hey all! Long time no blog. As you may have noticed, since the last post (2 weeks ago), I've acquired a new hairstyle and have totally embrace winter weather in the city. Over the weekend, a friend and I braved the -40 degree weather and head on to one of the newest spots in the city, Bouchee Boucher. Located around the St. Boniface neighbourhood, Bouchee Boucher is one half a butcher shop and one half a restaurant. The limited menu, which changes weekly, consists of sandwiches, salads and other small bites perfect for sharing. Obviously, I had to try their charcuterie board and I totally recommend it. The ambiance is casual and the service is attentive. Aside from dining in, the butcher shop also carries locally made pantry items which are perfect to grab on the go. Bouchee Boucher is a wonderful addition to this neighbourhood and I can't wait to bring other friends back here.

Nuit Blanche 2016, A Photowalk Diary
I'll be sporadic in posting here as I'm in the middle of moving and setting a routine this autumn with all the changes going on in my life. However, I couldn't help but share some photos from last Saturday's Nuit Blanche event in Winnipeg. Hope everyone is doing great!

Tucked within north Saint Boniface, the city's French neighbourhood, is Nicolett Cafe. Space may be limited and the area may seem a little shady but the food served represents comfort prairie food to a T. I dragged the boy to check out this place with me and he ended up loving the bannock & brisket he ordered. On the other hand, I got the potato & beet latkes that was a best-seller from their sister restaurant (now closed) Osborne Village Cafe. Open 7 days a week, Nicolett Cafe promises to deliver breakfast, lunch and dinner fare that's both affordable and delicious.

Tucked within the quiet neighbourhood of St. Boniface, La Belle Baguette is the newest french bakery in town. Owner and baker, Alix Loiselle has an extensive patisserie background having worked all over Canada and it is clearly evident with his baked goods. On my first visit, I decided to try the strawberry danish and the nutella paris-brest, which were both decadent and delicious! I'd still love to go back and try the baguette sandwiches that they offer. If you want to spend a quiet morning or afternoon while indulging yourself with some coffee and french pastries,
I definitely recommend La Belle Baguette!
