I'm trying to get back into blogging locally and so this time around I wanted to take you to my adventures last Saturday. I'm also trying something different by adding a video with today's post (and to be honest, I do share more details of my adventures in there than all the still photos).

Because I've been mentally drained with work related things, I'd rather keep this post in phrases rather than a proper paragraph. Here's how the weekend has been in this prairie city.
- a new lemon poppyseed donut flavor ℅ Bronuts -
- checking out the WildWoodRose Vintage Market -
- picking up a botanical crown from Academy Florists -
- new summer menu at King+Bannatyne sandwich shop -
- last day for Alison Norlen's Lēoht exhibition at the Actual Gallery -
- admiring Gibril Bangura's art piece at the Gurevich Fine Art Gallery -
- checking out Matea Radic's quirky & whimsical drawings -
- taking advantage of the glorious golden hour for ootds -

A few weeks ago, a friend and I decided to spend a Saturday around the Exchange District. This area might be my favourite here in the city. It's vibrant and booming during the summer time but there's a misconception that there isn't much to do here during winter. I totally disagree. Here are pictures-per-hour type of post to share with you how we spent our winter day at the Exchange.

9:00am - Start the day right with a Parlour Coffee latte, Jonnies sticky bun & Oh Doughnuts!

10:00am - Venture into the streets & discover that the Exchange is a photographer's dream!

11:00am - If you enjoy vinyl records, Into the Music would be your favourite store!

12:00nn - Can't miss Tiny Feast with its pretty stationeries, greeting cards & the cutest gift ideas.

1:00pm - Lunch at Deer+Almond doesn't disappoint. Make sure to check out their daily feature!
Other lunch spots to consider: King+Bannatyne, Peasant Cookery or Across the Board

2:00pm - Contemporary furniture stores, like 84 1/2 & Hut K, are scattered around the Exchange.

3:00pm - Visit one of the many art galleries here like Actual (featured here).

4:00pm - Go around, get shots of cool graffiti walls & murals. There's always something new!

We also decided to call it a day after this since we still had other plans for the night. I hope you enjoyed coming along with us in our Exchange District adventure!

I visited Actual Gallery and discovered that there was a really interesting exhibition by Cliff Eyland going on right now. Actual Gallery is a contemporary art space located in the Exchange District. For the month of January & February, they are showcasing works by Cliff Eyland, called Five Hundred and One Paintings (for those based here in Winnipeg, this is the same artist behind the paintings by the lobby of the Millennium Library downtown). They're 3"x5" paintings with images ranging from book-cover-like, abstract and landscape designs. Not saying that I'm a total art person, but I thoroughly enjoyed perusing through this exhibit! Highly recommended!
