I've blogged about Verde before when they were still located at a flash pop up location downtown. Nowadays, they are permanently situated at D-419 Graham Ave with a bigger space and more retail goods for sale. During their opening a few weeks ago, I got the chance to drop by and catch up with owner, Dominika. She showed me some of the newer things the shop carries including the wall planter that's been quite an accent piece in local cafes and boutiques. Aside from all things terrarium, Verde also sells fresh flower bouquets daily, which is a plus since this area downtown doesn't seem to have a good solid flower shop. So if you happen to be in downtown Winnipeg, make sure to stop by Verde, totally worth your time!

With December rolling by, holiday decor is at an all time high amongst local floral shops. I managed to stop by a couple of my favourites along Corydon to check out what they had to offer at this time of the year. From poinsettias, evergreens, wreaths, ready made bouquets & custom made arrangements, you cannot really go wrong with either Oak & Lily or Academy Florist. Both shops also sell complementary gifts to go with the fresh flowers, such as cards, vases and candles. 

Other Floral/Plant options to consider are:

- Fache Florals' Pop up Bouquets: Best 'bang for your buck' priced at $20 each. She has a private floral studio but if you follow her IG, you'll know where you can grab her bouquets (pop up events)

- Beyond Flowers: Best for classic arrangements. Being older and more established in the city, this shop is a go-to for all kinds of events from funerals, corporate functions and weddings. 

- Verde Terrariums: Best for people who don't have a green thumb. Their pop up location is ending this month so better go there asap. They're also selling wreaths at the Lucky Girl Pop up tomorrow.

- Department of Floristry: Best when visiting the Exchange District. The in-store event at Tiny Feast is this weekend. Check out the handmade brass & acrylic structures she sells with her air plants.

Earlier this week, I dropped by the newest flash pop up shop in the city called Verde. I've seen them in pop up markets all throughout this year and it was a pleasant surprise to see their space in the corner of Main and Bannatyne. Verde carries anything that has to do with terrariums -- from the plants, carriers and stone/pebble elements. Each terrarium is handmade by owner, Dominika Dratwa, who can basically answer all your questions regarding plant care and design. They make for perfect gifts, if you ask me. Aside from selling these pieces, Verde also holds workshops guiding people on how to build their own. They have a couple coming up on October 20 (Winnipeg Art Gallery) and November 7 (Yoga/Meditation Garden). The pop up shop runs only until December so I highly encourage everyone to check Verde out!
