Last Tuesday, I watched the Imagine Dragons concert downtown (sorry, no pictures allowed; a couple of my mobile shots I'm sharing over at my IG account). Before the concert, the boy and I decided to grab something to eat at the newly-opened restaurant, The Merchant Kitchen. Located within the Alt Hotel which is conveniently just across the concert venue, The Merchant Kitchen specializes in 'elevated street food and globally influenced cocktails'. The restaurant boasts of an interior (rooster) mural by local artist, Pat Lazo and furniture upholstery by Justin Dueck (featured here at Michelle's blog). If you happen to be catching a show or game downtown and trying to find something different and substantial to eat, I definitely recommend The Merchant Kitchen!

I was lucky enough to be invited by Michelle (Full Belly, Worn Soles) to attend a cocktail reception at the newly opened Alt Hotel Winnipeg downtown. Alt Hotel belongs to the Le Germain Group of Hotels that specializes on contemporary, comfortable and luxurious accommodations across Canada. Their hotels are characterized by colourful interior designs and art pieces done by local artists. During the event, notable people from Winnipeg's business, political, art & culture scene were invited to tour the hotel rooms, check out the meeting halls and see all the amenities the hotel has to offer. It is also to be noted that they will charge no more than CAD$149 for their rooms, which is such a great deal! With the distinct location of being in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, the Alt Hotel is surely a promising spot not only for outside visitors but most especially for locals who are looking forward to the urban development of the city.
