Town Fiesta Celebrations. All home made dishes care of my aunts and uncles in the province.

Eating twice in Mesa (table). As mentioned in the previous post, I had lunch & dinner meet ups throughout the second week of my stay in the Philippines. This Filipino restaurant, Mesa covered both a lunch meet up with family and a dinner out with high school friends. The place definitely did not disappoint in satisfying my Filipino food cravings.

Grilled platter of goodness. What really went well with the two types of rice above was this assortment of grilled meat and seafood (shrimp, squid, mussels, chicken, pork chop and bbq).

Still in Mesa. I was able to try, from top left,
Pork Binagoongan (pan fried pork belly sautéed in shrimp paste)
Tofu Sisig (bean curd on a sizzling plate with onions)
Sigarillas (wing beans tossed in coconut milk with shrimp)
Tofu Salad (soft bean curd topped with century egg and shrimp)
and Baked Tahong (mussels baked with cheese and garlic)

A bite of comfort cake. Venturing out of the popular local and international cafe/bakery names, Cafe Mary Grace sets itself apart with its cozy interiors, unique indigenous fixtures and Filipino comfort food. Best sellers include Mango Bene (frozen layers of meringue, custard cream and sweet mangoes) and Chocolate Truffle cake (self explanatory yumminess, hahaha!).

Hainanese Chicken Rice First Timer. Lots of asian food posts I read always have this in their must-try list; So when the chance came to eat chicken in Wee Nam Kee, I grabbed it. Aside from the Hainanese Chicken, I also got Cereal Prawns, BBQ Pork Asado & Sizzling Plate Tofu.

Drinks galore. Met up with college friends here in Namnam for dinner and drinks. As much as the food was delicious, I thought the drink selection was even more spectacular. I loved the inventive combinations of flavoured shakes. I got the Mango-Ginger shake as well as the
Berry Margarita, since they were offering unlimited cocktails for only $9.

Last full day with my kid cousins mean their type of comfort food: Shakey's Pizza, Chicken & Mojos! Haven't had this for the longest time so I really didn't mind having this with the kids.

Asia's Donut craze. If North America has Krispy Kreme, Asia has J.Co Donuts. Unique flavors include avocado, green tea, banana, tiramisu and mango in their main ingredients.

Airplane food for fun. Just in case you were wondering, I travelled with Philippine Airlines. For dinner, I chose Chicken Kaldereta (stew made with tomato sauce & vegetables).
