Spring Thing..

The snow is totally melting away and signs of spring are clearly showing up. Not only is it the right time to do some major spring cleaning, but also a good excuse to buy new clothes and shoes! Woot! I recently received this email about Uggs' latest spring line.

Here's the thing.. I'm not the biggest fan of Uggs (or anything that looks like them). But I know some of my friends swear to them especially when this city gets -40 temperatures in the winter time.

I have to give props though since with this season's line, they've tried adding cute colors, designs and details to these boots. Love them or hate them the famous (infamous?) Australian footwear is back with a new look this for Spring Summer.

hey all!!! still remember me?? i know i've been gone for so long. i guess i was just having too much fun during the holidays. teehee!! im slowly trying to go back on track and back to my regular routine so pardon the long absence here.

i haven't been taking photos of my outfits even though i've accumulated a lot of new things over the holidays; some were given to me as gifts and some, i got during boxing day. hopefully, i'll be able to share them with you soon!

it's 4 days to go until christmas and crazy me decided to brave the mall to get one last gift for my boyfriend. aaahhh!!! it was totally insane! a lot of students are done with their finals and a lot of people are still shopping at the last minute so it was totally packed inside.

i've been deciding if i need to get a new outfit for my family's christmas eve party, but i've decided to save the money that im going to spend on that and just buy something on sale on boxing day (dec 26). besides, i still have some clothes in my closet that i haven't worn yet.

last night, i went out again with a couple of my girlfriends for dinner, dessert and late night karaoke! first stop was at dessert sinsations. i ordered grilled tuna taco and share a white chocolate candy cane cheesecake with one of my friends.

my friend got kung pao salad and their homemade caramel latte. as for desserts, the rest ordered a mango cheesecake and the chocolate brownie cheesecake both of which were also so so delicious!

afterwards, we headed to muz, a karaoke place by corydon for some major singing! hahahaha!

after work, i attended a christmas party last night at montana's with some nurse friends.

my battery ran out after dinner just when we headed to ken's place for some karaoke and jello shots. so it's too bad i dont have pictures to share of that! but, i was able to take outfit photos the other day at work...

still continuing with my agony of not being able to take outdoor photos, i braved it awhile ago and decided to get these shots for today. this was after work already so im kind of stressed and tired-looking, teehee!

the snow has pretty much taken over our backyard and for some reason, it's reflecting this blue-ish tint in my camera so i apologize for the photos. not only was it dark already but my camera has poor abilities to capture detail. hahaha!

hi! i live in canada as of the moment, but i also used to live in a tropical country (philippines) and we only had wet and dry season there. i really miss how it is there with the weather. i don't know.. i've never really learned to love the snow here. i even miss it more especially because the holidays are coming! i miss the food, the cool (not chilly-i-can-get-a-frostbite) nights and the fireworks!

i've been trying to be a good blogger by putting a bit of an effort to take photos of my outfits. however, it's been tough since the winter season has come.. mostly because, it's too dark outside and my indoor shots have been such a fail!

here's my attempt to share with you my outfit today. all of these photos are taken indoors so forgive the bad quality. i just can't seem to find the right camera mode to make the photos clearer.

well.. this week, the weather forecast has been brutal! it's a good thing that these knee high boots came in right on time in the mail for me to be able to use them out! im quite excited to pair my old clothes and ensembles with this new pair!

i just finished watching glee!!!! did anyone else catch it? aahhh!!! so many aaawww moments, such a great holiday episode. didn't enjoy all of the songs, but the storyline is really touching.

anyway, a number of you commented on the same sentiments you're having at this time of the year.. too many parties, not enough weekends.. last minute gift shopping and the fact that christmas is coming too soon! i couldn't agree more..

wow.. is it just me or have your weekends started getting so jampacked with parties, activities and/or last minute xmas shopping? just this weekend, i attended a friend's bday dinner at moxie's downtown.

saturday night, one of my nephews celebrated his 2nd bday so my family and relatives got together for the event. afterwards, i was invited to another house party to celebrate my friend's bday. since i was so full already, all i ended up doing there was getting some drinks! hahaha!

sunday night was no rest day either. a few weeks back, arianne invited me as her plus one in their annual company christmas party. so we went for dinner at her supervisor's place and then headed to the christmas social by confusion corner.

and ooohh!! another outfit post!! i only got to take photos of the ensemble i wore last sunday and it's also a repeat look, but who cares right? hahaha! it's been awhile since i wore this dress anyways.

hey everyone! do you still know me? hahaha!!! i've been so busy with life lately. been doing overtime at work (since there is so much to be done with the holiday season coming in). plus, family from all over the country is starting to visit back here in the city so i've been spending time with them with weekend parties and dinners. the weather hasn't been great too since we accumulated another record breaking amount of snow this month so outfit posts have been so challenging for me to do.

on the up side, november is almost over and december is here!!! im totally psyched to finish my christmas shopping and start wrapping the gifts! yay!

and by my title, i meant holiday parties!!!
last night my girlfriends and i got together for some early dinner and drinking. it was quite awesome that a lot of us ended up attending since it was so rare for us working girls to have time off all at the same time.

we ate at earl's by polo park and even though we waited quite a bit for our food, it was worth it! some of us ordered pasta, steak and burgers. i ordered their cajun blackened chicken which was incredibly tasty. plus, i was craving for something with a lychee taste, so i got their lychee geisha martini.

also, after dinner, my friends and i went for some photo session at the washrooms. it's just so so pretty inside! hahahaha! we can't resist not taking photos with the good interiors and lighting. (forgive the sucky grainy outfit photo though. didn't realize it turned out that way..)

it finally snowed. welcome to winterpeg, lovelies.. we're going to experience some double negative temperatures next week so i really need to have my coats dry cleaned (such a procrastinator, i know!).

on the crazy side, i wasn't prepared at all for this weather so here i am in my maxi skirt worn as dress and this nude blazer i scored from h&m. and well.. that's all i wore. hahaha!

Charlee's Lounge

a couple of weeks ago, a couple of my friends and i ended up looking for some new place to eat out on a saturday night. one of them suggested visiting this lounge that featured a local band playing that weekend. at first we really didn't know where it was but after calling up someone, we did safely find the place (185 Stadacona Street).

we went to charlee's and it's this relatively new place, which i believe is owned by a filipino couple. it's located at an odd area in the city (situated in a random residential area) so at first, i was skeptical if it would be a good place to hang out.

i can tell you that the place is small and it's probably not the most commercial in terms of interiors and set up, but what i really loved about it is the relaxed vibe inside. plus, my favorite part would have to be the live band they had every saturday night. it kind of reminded me of how i used to hang out at acoustic bars back in the philippines when i was in high school. hahaha!! so nostalgic and fun!

i can definitely see myself going back there. it doesn't have the intimidating vibe of chain restaurants nor does it have the loud & chaotic atmosphere of a dance club. i just love that it's just between and i can just hang out there on a lazy saturday night, catching up with friends.

i was finally able to try out this all you can eat sushi place just by downtown. i've heard of wonderful reviews about it as a buffet style japanese place and boy was i not disappointed!

sushi gen is located just by portage avenue right across the university of winnipeg and i think it's very convenient for students, office workers or anyone just visiting downtown. they offer a great variety of dishes with almost 120 items in their menu, ranging from sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, tempura, meat and seafood dishes and a bit of soup-appetizers-dessert.

when i went there, i was with a couple of my girlfriends and i think it's really the best way to go there. being that it's buffet style, it's nice to be able to share whatever you got with the rest of the people in your table (i like doing that to be able to taste a bit of everything).

at first, they serve you hot tea and then, the whole menu is open for you to get your food! and when i mean all you can eat, i mean you can get all kinds of sushi, sashimi and other japanese dishes. i like that a lot since some buffet restaurants only serve exclusively sushi and they rip you off by putting too much rice in a roll. here, you don't get that!

i think i'm set for my sushi cravings for the next weeks ahead, but when i start craving for them again, i know where to go back and get it!!!

i've been in my current job for about 3 months now and it's only this time that i've worn jeans! hahaha!! yes, i only own about 2 decent pairs of denim and maybe a couple more that are so worn out that i use them just to run errands around the city.

i'm really not that comfortable with jeans to be honest so if i can wear loose trousers or more often, skirts/dresses, i'd do that everyday. plus, i can't find a good pair that's affordable and has the perfect length for me. it always boils down to me having it cut or having to cuff it like right now with this outfit.

oh btw, i went to meet up with one of my girlfriends, Arianne, last weekend. she's off to toronto for a 5-day vacation so i thought it would be nice to hang out in a nearby lounge before she leaves. i got some chicken quesadillas and fried cheesecake!

My Way, Her Way, Their Way: The Maxi

It's been a long while since Bestie and I collaborated on a My Way, Her Way feature so I was glad when she gave me an email a few weeks back reminding me to do another one for The Maxi Trend.

Whether it's maxi skirts or maxi dresses, we feel as if we've been seeing a lot of these lately that we wanted to give it our own takes. I still feel a bit skeptical with my outfit, since I was trying to go for mixing patterns and textures. It might be a bit too much for some of you, but sometimes, I think it's nice to break out of one's comfort zone, yes?

Bestie looks so eclectic chic with the beanie, braids, oxfords, fringe bag and maxi piece! I love how she's able to work all of these trends! For this feature, we invited Aisa of Drowning Equilibriums and Louise of Fifth Sparrow. They both look amazing eh?

On the left, I just love how Louise went for a classy black and white combination. She made it a bit casual by tying a knot with the white shirt on top of the maxi dress. While Aisa totally spiced up this trend by wearing a vibrant maxi skirt and a denim jacket which just makes me miss good cool summer nights.

so here's the deal.. some of you have requested a closer second look to these new wedges i got from zara and the good thing is i recently wore it with this outfit. so of course, i went on to take outfit photos!

outfit: vintage knit sweater, talula skirt c/o aritzia, zara wedges, payless tights

i wore it to work and my supervisor was asking me how i could walk on them.. to be honest, they're pretty sturdy, especially since they are wood wedges and there are hidden platforms in front of the shoe.

i have a bit of a concern though. i don't know if it's just me, but for some reason my right foot fits better than my left one with this pair. i read somewhere that technically speaking one foot is bigger than another so im guessing my left foot is the bigger one, eh?

i have even resorted to double checking if i got the same size for the left and right shoe, hahaha! so yeah, if you have any tips for me on how to easily loosen up the left shoe, i'd really appreciate it in the comments section.

a random occurence

im not really the biggest fan of steaks. actually, in 3 years of dating the boy, we really haven't gone to a steak house or ordered steak in any menu we have come across with. i don't know, i just feel like it's too heavy and i'm always so used to my rice with meat and maybe i'm just the chicken type of person.

but for thanksgiving (weeks ago), i opted to order something special for dinner since it was almost a good way to culminate my weekend getaway in the mountains. patrinos steak house was a nearby restaurant from our inn when we were in canmore. when we got there, we even thought of just going to the lounge but im glad we ended up in the main restaurant.

i got the surf & turf: shrimp, steak, rice and veggies; while the boy got salmon. it was such a hearty meal for the both of us. my steak was cooked just the way i liked it and the salmon tasted so fresh especially with the hint of lemon!

aaahhhh.. ok.. did this post make you hungry or what?! hahaha!!! maybe i'll get steak again one of these days...

i decided to wear one of my purchases from my last trip to forever 21 since the boy and i are celebrating our monthsary today! yay! i actually just got off the phone with him and he was telling me that he had a rough day at work too.. aawww...

halloween weekend

sorry for the absence, lovelies.. last week, the weather was so terrible that by the time i arrived home from work, it was already gloomy and cloudy outdoors so i wasn't able to take decent outfit photos. but today i tried my best to catch the sun and take some outfit shots.

anyway, how was your weekend? mine went fine. unlike other bloggers, i didn't really dress up for halloween just because i had no parties or socials to attend to. although, last friday at work we had this western ghost town theme in the office most of my coworkers thought of dressing up.

oh and i also got to catch up with one of my girlfriends this weekend. we had some mongolian grill food, appetizers and cocktails at corydon.

im not really feeling well as of this moment since i have my monthly visitor and i get back pains whenever it's here. aaahhh sitting 8 hours at work leaves me feeling blah and eecckk.. hope you had a better first day of november...

i know the official trick or treat-ing is tonight. as for someone like me who doesn't really celebrate it, i take it as a sign that i need to start on my christmas shopping list already. i started writing down who i need to give gifts to this christmas and i think it just went on and on and on.. hahahahaha!

anyway, since i live in a small city, the selection of gifts to get is limited. i've always thought of purchasing gifts online because at least they'd be unique, there are better choices out there and it's so convenient too. i was browsing online and stumbled upon Steady Guy, an up and coming urban designer label based on UK.

it has recently launched its new accessory line featuring Brixton Hats and O Clock watches. for me, during this season, i always end up getting winter gear for my family and friends and when i saw the new brixton hat collection, i immediately thought of my guy friends that would love to get that. they're sleek, trendy and practical too.

aside from that, i really got excited when i saw the o clock watches. first of all, they have this minimalist style to them but the choice of colors really add that extra oomph to the line. i love that it came in both dark neutral colors as well as bright bold ones. perfect gift for him and her and really versatile to whatever style they may have. plus it doesn't hurt that they came fitted in cans -- awesome packaging!

the old spaghetti factory

the day the boy and i got to banff, we decided to head out and look for a place to get lunch. since italian food sounded like a good idea, we went to the old spaghetti factory at the second floor of the cascade plaza.

the restaurant probably doesn't have the best pastas out there, but for the price they charge people, i think it's quite a decent place. all our meals came with a sourdough bread with garlic butter (so good!), a salad or soup, and spumoni ice cream!

the boy got lasagna for his main pasta while i got chicken pesto (which i absolutely love). here in winnipeg, the old spaghetti house is probably one of the few places i can get pesto if im craving really bad for it.

with our stomachs full, we happily went back to the town centre and started touring the rest of banff! yay!!

watch out for next week's food tripping thursdays as i feature a steak house where i had thanksgiving dinner with the boy.

aahhh.. just when i said that i'd be able to post more decent photos this week, the forecast starts to tell us that we're having rain and worse.. snow in the following days! aaaahhhhh!! im slowly keeping my summer stuff and putting out my scarves, coats and boots!!!

remember my last haul post? i did mention that i got wedges from zara but for some reason, the site doesn't have a picture of it anymore. so today, i decided to take it for a spin and test it out (hahaha, i test my shoes out.. yeah, i know i'm a dork!)

all i can say is.. i love love love it!! i've been trying to look for a pair of camel/brown booties. i got a bit picky since i didn't like something lace up (i have a couple already of those); didn't like a suede finish to the fabric (since it's just so hard to maintain during rainy/snowy days); didn't want the length to cut off my calves (because that would just make me shorter); and of course wanted something on the more affordable-reasonable price.

it was a toss between this pair and something that i saw in aldo. i ended up getting this because i just like that there's a smaller chance that i would bump into someone here with the same pair (don't have zara in this city).

haven't gone to see any kind of movie in such a long time and when i heard that the paranormal activity was opening this week, i grabbed at a chance to see it. unfortunately, most of my girlfriends are not fond of horror movies, so i ended up inviting my boyfriend's siblings to see it in the cinemas last friday.

i was crazy!!! by that, i mean the ticket sales.. there was a 7:40pm show and we decided to get there as early as 7pm for the tickets but they were all gone! we had no choice but to get the next show at 10:20pm.

since we had a lot of time to kill, we figured of just going around the mall and getting sushi for dinner. ooohhh yummy!

we got back in the cinema one hour before the show time (9:20pm) so that we can get good seats, but lo and behold there was already a long long long long long (CRAZY!) line outside all for the paranormal activity 2 screening. ftw?! what even happened was that due to the ticket demand, they closed another different movie to have 2 showings for the same time.

the movie wasn't that bad, i must say.. i was thinking it would suck since there's that curse for sequels or part 2's in movies. it had some good moments and i really loved how they were able to incorporate details from the first movie. but you'll still understand it even though you didn't see that one.

so as i've mentioned in my old posts, i went on quite a shopping spree when i was in calgary. right now, i've tucked them away in my closet but since i haven't really done any decent fashion post (and i don't have an outfit photo to share with you today), i thought i'd share with you what i got...

i need more bottoms: loose trousers and cheap denim jeans from forever 21

quite a handful, eh? most of those are really things that have been on my ''need'' list like a good coat for winter, some trousers to give me more outfit combinations for work and the mask which i ran out of a few weeks ago. some of them, i just got by using old store gift cards that i have kept in my stash like the beret, blazer and blush (alliteration, much?). and some i just can't resist buying because of their insane cheap price namely the jeans for $11, the scrub for $3 and the eye pencil for $4.

on our first night in canmore, the boy and i were craving for something different for dinner. there was a number of italian and north american restaurants along the main street of the town centre, but at the end of the road we saw aromas. when we realized that they were offering mexican cuisine, we knew we had to try the place out.

it was quite a packed night being that it was saturday but we were able to get a corner spot. for starters i got this chili soup, while he got a guacamole salad. both were extreme opposites of each other: the soup was spicy and warm, while the salad was fresh and cool.

for our main course, i opted for this spicy shrimp dish, while he got a pork dish with their famous oaxaca sauce. my meal was so-so; wasn't the best but didn't really taste bad too. his pork smelled and tasted amazing! the sauce was so rich and flavorful!

i haven't had a decent mexican meal in such a long time and being able to eat at aromas was the perfect way to end that night.

bittersweet last day..

i had one more free day in calgary since i was able to request it at work. unfortunately, the boy had to go back to his routine of working 8-4 so after preparing breakfast with him, i was left to do some last minute shopping before heading back to winnipeg.

my last day in calgary was spent in the newly renovated chinook centre by my bf's place for some major shopping. the good thing was the mall had the only zara store in the city, the unfortunate thing was that the other stores i was looking forward to weren't open yet! booh!

after shopping i headed back to the apartment by using the c-train and started fixing my luggage for my trip back. it was so bittersweet since i felt so happy with my new purchases (i spent all my shopping money in zara. hahaha!), but at the same time, it was my last day with the boy. it made me feel sad that the blissful weekend was over and my time with him was just cut short just like that. *sighs*

eeepp.. pardon me for being so cheesy in the last few posts. i guess, i really just miss the boy. but on a lighter note, now that i've gotten those stories in here, i can definitely go back to my regular postings. which reminds me... while i was away, my blog was featured in here in modlychic. feel free to check it out. i'll be bringing back food tripping thursdays tomorrow so watch out for it! :D

sights and shopping

for our last day in the mountains, we checked out early out of our inn to be able to get breakfast and catch the sunrise in the town.

it turned out to be a wonderful sunny day so our drive back to calgary went well. we went through a different route going back so that we can have a different perspective and view on the road.

we even passed by a dock/reservoir to stretch out legs and take pictures of the sailboats. beautiful!

i also decided to drop by the outlet mall before heading back to his apartment since it was on the way. it was the only time i had access to an h&m and forever21 while i was there so i knew i had to get something, hahaha!

ended up pretty happy with my purchases which im hoping to debut soon! since the boy had to go back to work the following day, we quickly grabbed a bite in the food court and went back to his place early.

for our second day in the mountains we decided to hit the banff national park to spend the day there. after having our brunch, we walked around the town center to see the souvenir stores and check out other tourists walking around.

we had a map with us and we decided to go elsewhere to see the other areas that i haven't been to. we ended up in this hiking trail that leads to the bow falls but i backed out of it since i wasn't properly dressed for the activity.

fortunately, there was a way for us to get there using a vehicle so that's what we opted for. we got to a closer view of the bow falls and it was quite a wonderful site to see. we also got a view of the majestic fairmont hotel when we were there.

outfit: urban planet blazer, tna sweater, f21 shades & jeans, aldo wedges, matt & nat purse

it was too cloudy and windy that day that we had doubts of going for the gondola ride. at the end, i decided that since we were there already, we might as well go for it. although we really didn't have a great view on top, it was fine. we just got coffee and spend a good hour resting, talking and figuring out what else we can do for the rest of the day.

after going down the gondola ride, we saw that there's this lake nearby that we can hang out before heading back to canmore. we weren't hungry for dinner yet so we tried locating lake vermillion to catch the sunset.

before it got dark, we headed back to our lodging and went to a nearby restaurant for our thanksgiving dinner (which im saving for another post). all in all, another well spent day in banff. i apologize if the whole post is so image heavy, but it's really nice to look back at these photos, especially now that im back in 'normal' work mode. teehee!

i know i know i've been doing short mediocre posts nowadays but i promise, i'll be back on track with outfits and haul posts soon! for now, let me share with you some wonderful photos i took over the weekend when i was in canmore & banff.

our major destination for the trip was canmore since lodging was less expensive and there weren't a lot of tourists (more of locales). we decided that since banff is just a few minutes away, we can just always drive there during our stay.

when we arrived in canmore, we decided to hit this park to eat our packed lunch ("our baon", filipino style). after lunch, we still had time to spare before checking in our lodge inn so we ended up walking this trail by the watershed.

we finally headed to our room to settle our stuff there and then went out again to check the rest of the town centre.

canmore is such a beautiful quaint little 'village/town'. the mountains make for a perfect backdrop to the cute and unique buildings they have. i was even telling the boy that someday, i'd want to own a rest house here, something to get away from when the city is stressing me out!

during the boy's last 2 days here in the city, he decided to meet up with some old university friends. he visited the campus on wednesday and i followed him there after work. it was also a good thing that our student group had their monthly meeting so we were able to catch up with old and new members.

it's so weird now since everyone's doing their own thing. it felt kind of surreal just to catch up and realize that some of us (like myself) have working lives already; the younger ones have changed their career paths in terms of the courses they're taking or the universities they're attending. within a span of 5-10 months, it seems as if everyone has gotten more mature and has taken a lot more 'life' responsibilities. but at the same time, everyone is still the same old crazy person that he/she is. aaaahhhhhh... we're getting old.

Lounge Wing Night

my boyfriend's cousin is a manager for one of the smitty's restaurant in the city so after work, we decided to hit his lounge and grab something to eat.

we were fortunate that it was wing night! so of course, i had to have my favorite flavor: electric honey (that's honey garlic coated chicken wings rolled in lemon pepper)! yummy!

we also got to play the electronic darts which is my new favorite lounge game/activity. i used to play billiards all the time, but the darts are so much easier and quicker to play.

speaking of lounge night, i stumbled upon this new video of the latest single from them: youth called toothache. kinda catchy, i must say...

so i know i've been out of this blogging world for a good 2 weeks and as im trying to collate all of my stories and photos, i am going to do my best to give a recap what happened. the next days in this blog will be filled with just plain personal experiences and i hope you don't mind me doing that, especially since i would love to recap the events for myself and my boyfriend (i told him to read thru my blog once i get back here)

hiatus mode, please..

so there are a couple of things that i've been wanting to share with everyone, but i was holding it off until the perfect time. as i mentioned in my previous blog post, i just got a new camera to replace my broken one. and i was able to put it into good use over the weekend.

first of all, my boyfriend's brother celebrated his 21st bday last saturday night and it was one heck of a party! major booze night, i was the only girl amidst his guys friends and major boy banter (think: green jokes!). hahahaha!

i was testing out my camera too so forgive the inconsistent composition and lighting. what do you think of how the images turned out? i'm still trying to figure out the best mode for the images since some of them really turn too white/blue/bright.

second, the boy and i celebrated our 3rd year anniversary last saturday too!!! i can't believe our relationship has been that old!!! i still love him way too much, teehee!!

and last but certainly not the least, the boy is here in the city!!!!! i have known that he was visiting since last week but i've been trying to keep it to myself the whole time since he didn't want people to know (and some of our friends here read my blog so i didn't want to divulge it).

he came here last saturday midnight and i spent the night at his place. spent sunday afternoon with my family and also accompanied him around the city since he wanted to see if things have changed here.

the next few days will be totally jammed up. i'll be working during the day and spending time with him after work so if im lucky enough to have time to post anything here, then i will. but i can't promise any regular posting for now. plus, im still going to calgary this friday too. the boy and i are spending thanksgiving long weekend there.

soooo... that's about 10 days of pure hecticness: plans of meeting up with old university friends, packing up for my long weekend vacation, dinner dates and whatnots with the boy and preparing our plans for thanksgiving. aaahhhh... yes, im going in some sort of hiatus mode to spend time with him.. see you when i see you!

with the whole whirlwind of a weekend that i had, i haven't quite gotten around to uploading personal photos from the party i attended and the things that i've been doing but rest assured, i will get to blog on them once i get the time to collate my photos and stories.

in the mean time, i'm having this scheduled post for you to view, while i'm busy facing adulthood and working. hahaha! i received another one of those newsletters in my email from daniel footwear. apparently, they're featuring juicy couture right now in their site and i saw some of their pieces from the f/w collection.

what do you think, guys? i think juicy couture is one of those brands that you don't know whether to love or hate. sometimes, they do have nice and fancy accessories (like that bag down there!!!), but on the other hand some of the items i've seen from them before have been quite tacky.

reviving the old, preparing the new.

so in my effort to revive the last outfit photos i took from my now dead camera, i took the memory card and tried looking for the last shots of my outfit a couple days ago. fortunately, it went through and im able to share them with you today!

i was trying to go for something bohemian with this look. i've been waiting for the right cool temperature to wear this vintage knit sweater that i got last summer in a garage sale. it might not picture well, but im telling you, it's beyond cozy and chic! can't wait to wear it more often this month!

oh btw.. speaking of outfit shots, i can get back on track now since i got myself a new cheapo digicam. teehee! i haven't tried it out yet since i need to charge the batteries and all, but they will be put into good use this week because.. well.. that's a surprise you need to wait for until my next post!!

oh.. i was so pissed off with how i broke my camera yesterday that i forgot to tell you about my citizenship test! it went fine except that i made 2 mistakes.. not major ones, but i clearly forgot about those. hahahaha! they're not giving the results til a couple of months time so im just glad that's over and done with.

... of an exhausting week!

just when i thought that adding an extra hour in my normal 8-hour day is something i can handle, i find myself yawning and sighing the whole day at work today. and mind you, this is just the first day! aaahhh!!!

im working extra hours this week since im getting some time off this wednesday to take my citizenship test downtown. that means im actually going to the office earlier and leaving later.

i took these photos when i got home so i looked a bit haggard. the sun has set already too so the lighting is a bit poor. but i hope you still manage to like my effort to squeeze an outfit post today!

last saturday night, i was able to attend a wedding reception of a family friend of ours. it was a wonderful night filled with good food, endless dancing, camwhoring and of course love love love (it's a wedding for crying out loud, hahaha!)

somehow this week is taking its toll on me. im so tired, but i really don't understand why since i just sit down and type in front of a computer at work. maybe it's the long hours of handling paper, maybe it's trying to squeeze in that extra 10-minute sleep when my alarm rings in the morning or maybe it's just because the weather this week has not been so nice and pretty.

all i know is that this coming week will be even more stressful. my family and i have this wedding to attend to tomorrow. sunday will be reserved for studying for my upcoming citizenship test. for monday and tuesday, i will need to work overtime since i'll be getting some hours off on wednesday, when i take my test downtown.

the weather has been oh so dreary and gloomy. just yesterday, the city was filled with rain showers and it was so hard for me to get some outfit shots so im passing up on them today. but it's food tripping thursday so i figured instead of just featuring food images or recipes, i'd try to incorporate fashion and food in this post.

but enough of my outfit now. did you guys see glee?? it premiered tonight with its new season. here's the thing, i am not a big fan of the show.. i watch it whenever i catch it on but im not a religious follower or a "gleek", if you know what i mean.. but i was so so glad i was able to record this first episode on our tv.

PS: I've been to it this summer when they came to Montreal!!!! It was a great exposition, I went with my two younger cousins, and there were two VERY PATIENT med students explaining everything to them (I really appreciated that!). The exposition itself was amazing, the organs were very well preserved, the part I appreciated the most was the reproductive system part, where they showed fetuses in all these different stages... You should definitely check it out!:P

aahhh yes.. the blazer makes it extra chic almost at an instant. and about the bodies exhibition: you just gave me the idea of having my science student friends tag along so that they can explain to me what i'll be seeing. teehee!

while walking around downtown after work, i saw this building holding "the bodies" exhibition. i didn't even know that they were having it here in my city. i've been telling my friends that we should go together and see it.

after work, i went to the mall to check out whatever new stuff the stores have. i probably visit there once in 3 weeks just to know if there are any interesting new arrivals in my fave stores. hahaha!

while walking around, i saw a friend of mine and apparently she was meeting up with some of our university friends to have dinner at olive garden, just across the mall. one of my friends there was having her birthday so we ended up celebrating it over dinner.

i totally forgot to take pictures of our food. we ended up waiting for about 30 mins to get seated and then of course another wait til we got our food. by the time the bread, salad and pasta got on the table, everyone was so hungry and completely forgot to take photos. i only have a shot of my strawberry mango limonata which was absolutely amazing btw! hahaha!

I have yet to find one I love (foundation) I am using cover girls clean make up in oil control and it is not thaaaat fabulous. Let me know how you are liking the revlon:)

so far, im liking the coverage of the revlon colorstay foundation. i find that i use less concealer when i have it on. right now, im just applying it with a sponge, but i think it can be used better with a flat brush so you can really buff it out for an airbrush finish. in the morning, i actually don't need to put a powder after applying it since it gives me a matte finish already (fyi: im using the medium beige one for oily/combination skin). but in the afternoon, i would need to retouch a bit with powder. don't get me wrong, the foundation truly does stay for a good 10 hours or so, but my oily face just acts up no matter what. i would definitely recommend it. i believe zellers is having the revlon line on sale this week too so it's even a good time to try it out!

wow.. i actually have that as my title. this week went by so fast, don't you think? im just thankful the weekend is here again!

as you can see in these backyard photos, we have our recycling bins out today. but aside from what's obvious, it's also payday, which means, i have to pay my bills! aaahhh!

i haven't been doing much shopping since im trying to save up for my trip on october. hopefully, i'll be able to get much better things since they have forever 21, zara and h&m there, unlike here in my city.

of course, i still decided to treat myself and i finally got a foundation. after much research online and in youtube, i finally opted to get revlon's colorstay foundation (for combination/oily skin). let's see how it will fair on my super oily skin.

so something got into me and i decided to channel my inner smurf or navi (avatar anyone?) by wearing these blue tights today, hahaha! sometimes, you really shouldn't take fashion too seriously, yes?

and since the tights give a statement as it is, i decided to wear everything else in a basic dark color. also, i kept it a bit interesting with the layered pieces -- from the blazer, swing tank top and the pencil skirt.

i bet you people in the lunch room at work were thinking: why the heck, do i have blue legs?! but you know what? i kinda liked how this look turned out even though its a bit out of my style.

when trying to figure out what to wear for work the following day, i sometimes catch myself toning down my outfit. i don't know why, but i feel a little bit awkward when i find myself wearing all these dressy outfits and the people i get into the elevator with are just in casual pants and runners.

case in point: this outfit. originally, i was supposed to wear a crisp white shirt and a blazer with this skirt, and extend those pink socks to make them knee highs. but i ended up chicken-ing out and resorted to wearing it with my cropped tee (tucked in) and this black cardigan. i also scrunched up the pink socks to an ankle length.

hmm.. there are days when i feel like experimenting more, but not today. i went with the more conservative and casual choice. maybe one time i'll really try the original ensemble i had in mind. teehee!

For making clothes work year-round, I tend to wear a lot of tights (at least for fall, winter, and spring) - that seems to give me access to skirts and shorts that I wouldn't be able to wear otherwise.

i really like this time of the year. temperatures are dropping but during the day time, the sun is out. the cool breeze with the warm rays of the sun make for the perfect fall weather.

outfit: vintage floral romper, h&m cardigan, scarpasa sandals, walmart hat

nowadays, people have been keeping their summer dresses and sandals in the closet and setting out their blazers, scarves and boots. but if you're like me, i love wearing my clothes all year round as much as possible.

i wore this floral romper with the yellow cardigan that jasmine gave me and these sandals i got from scarpasa. since the sun was out in all its glory, i decided to throw in my straw hat for the photos.

i think this just goes to show that with a little creativity, you can definitely make your clothes work for all 4 seasons. how are you transitioning your summer clothes to fall?

i decided to go for a cross breed of something nautical and geek chic today. plus, i really wanted to wear this sweater because it was chilly out.

oh btw, shout out to kristy: these trousers are the one that im planning to send you for the swap. i was hoping you could send over a kind of jacket/cardigan/blazer (anything i can layer on in the office since the aircondition at my side can get brutal, hahaha!).

this was my first week off of training at work. i can say that being alone in my own space is quite nerve wracking at first, but when i got the hang of doing the things, it felt pretty nice to have my own desk to figure out my own routine and set up.

off to another weekend, hurray! im spending it reviewing for my upcoming citizenship test! aaaahhhh!!!!

for this post's comment of the day, i'm not highlighting anyone in particular because a lot of you asked me about the detachable collar i was wearing in this post. for those interested to get one, i tried to look into etsy to see what shops offered them. in particular, i got my collar from young captive but im not sure if the store still have some. hopelessly devoted is another shop you can look into for collars. hope that helped those who want to get one for themselves.

last weekend, i went to check out this korean bbq place near the university. the first time i tried korean bbq was back in calgary during my boyfriend's bday. i never knew that there was a restaurant here in the city with the same concept.

if you're from here, you should check out IDOL Asian Cuisine. they serve both korean and chinese food but of course, i had to try their korean bbq buffet. they offered everything from chicken, pork, beef, lamb, squid, shrimp, fish, ox tongue, pork liver and veggies. during the time i ate there, they even had all you can eat sushi and ice cream. woot!!

the whole idea of restaurants like this is that they give you the raw meat and you get to grill them on your table. it's very ideal for sharing with a big group and if you have a big appetite to boot. even though it may take a while at first to cook your food, it's worth the wait.

Time for another installment of My Way, Her Way, Their Way! This time around, I told Bestie if we can try out the Peterpan Collar trend and she gladly obliged.

Ever since I received that detachable collar through the Chic Swap, I have been trying to find ways on how I can wear it with all of my tops, hahahaha! I think the really awesome thing about peterpan collars is that they give any look, that extra adorable vintage feel to it. Look at me trying to fight the wind!

I decided to go all out vintage school girl chic in wearing this trend. I think the peterpan collar goes very well with the a-line skirt and the white socks-oxfords combo. While Bestie looks very modest and classy with the hounds tooth printed dress. I really love that cameo brooch pin in the middle of the collar. What a way to spice the peterpan collar up!

Of course, this won't be My Way, Her Way, Their Way without our invited bloggers. The moment we decided on this trend, I just knew that the Dynamic Duo, Jen & Jasmine, were the perfect people to invite. Jasmine of Transient Withdrawal played it well with her signature print mixing. The bows, stripes, dots and of course the peterpan collar make this whole look just so darling. Jen of Jennifhsieh had this adorable dress on that was just ultra chic and feminine. It was such an easy and effortlessly stylish look.

Overall, I think this collaboration was a success! I really love this trend and you are definitely going to see more of this peterpan collar here with my outfits! osborne village foodie

being that i live in a small city, there are only a few spots here where i know i can decently hang out, shop for unique items and grab a bite afterwards. osborne village is one of those places. ever since i got here in winnipeg, i've been frequenting this place alone, with friends and just recently with my brother.

a couple of days ago, arianne and i were supposed to try out this tapas place called segovia. it's a new restaurant in the area and of course, i wanted to check it out. however, when we got there, there was a line up of people and we felt a bit awkward since those people somehow knew each other. at the back of my mind, i thought that there may have been a party or some random event. the both of us immediately decided to skip the new place and save it for another friday.

still, we did end up having dinner in osborne. we went to this italian restaurant called tomato. i've been there once and i really liked their food. since she hasn't been there yet, we just went for it. the food didn't disappoint. :)

the following day, my brother asked me if i can accompany him to the american apparel store in osborne village. after going around aa and some other boutiques there, we ended up having crepes at kawaii crepe.

so if in case you're from here in winnipeg or if you're planning to visit the city, i think that you should put osborne village as one of your must-see places!

when i received this top from jasmine, i was trying to figure out how to wear it with my own clothes. im not very fond of spaghetti straps just because im quite a busty girl and they don't go well with that attribute of mine, teehee! i decided to layer it with this bodysuit and some jeggings.

thank god it's friday! i have a lot to be happy about today aside from that. first of all, training at work is officially over. starting next week, i get to have my own desk and manage material by myself. speaking of work, i also got my first paycheck, most of which went to paying bills, buying a bus pass and saving up for my calgary visit next month! woot woot!

there was a mosquito on my nose, hahaha!

speaking of calgary, another thing im happy about is that my boyfriend (who's currently there) and i are celebrating our 35th monthsary! aaahhh.. i can't wait to spend time with him again. of course, i decided to wear something extra special today for that occasion -- something red, a pair of high heels and a feminine black dress.

it's been challenging to update this blog that's why i have discovered a way for me to make sure that i get outfit posts in here. i try to take photos of my outfit the day before to make sure that there's still good lighting outdoors.

also, i'm starting to pay more attention to my sleeping and eating patterns because i really need make sure i have enough energy to last me the whole day. one thing i always tell myself is to not skip breakfast, whether it's a simple muffin or an egg sandwich. however, if i had the luxury of time, energy and resources, i would love to have these every week..

midweek madness

aaahhh it's september, it's midweek and i have so much in my to do list. i need to pay my bills, get my buspass, have to get back to a couple of emails and of course work work work.

outfit: top & belt c/o jen thru clothes swap, yrys dress as a skirt, payless shoes, sirens necklace

training week is almost over and im quite anxious and nervous to be on my own at the office. im still scared that i may be assessing some of the insurance documents incorrectly. oh geesh, i hope not...

on to lighter things.. i checked on one of my sponsors, murano glass gifts, and saw that they had a couple of new arrivals out for their jewelry line. i think you would adore them as much as i enjoyed oogling over them.

the randomness of it all..

i should warn you that this post is going to be so random. first of all, i have been contemplating on posting my outfit or not. i just think it's all over the place. secondly, im posting photos of my training room workspace. lastly, im sharing some food photos just because i like it. hahahaha!

outfit: aa lace bodysuit, h&m cardigan c/o jasmine, f21 harem pants & bow ring, celine pumps, divi pearl necklace

on with the show.. so here's the outfit im talking about. i think this ensemble looked better in my head than on me, boohoo! i wanted to try out this color palette because it looked good when i saw them together in the hanger.

i still decided to show it to you guys to ask you what i could have done to make it more chic? i just feel like it's all over the place as i said earlier. would you rather have the cardigan tucked in or out? or maybe cancel the cardigan altogether and replaced it with something else?

next, as promised, here are pictures of the training room where im working right now. technically speaking, i don't have my own workspace yet. i get to go "on the floor" next week and by then i'll have my own email and cubicle set up.

i took these photos when everyone else was on break. so sshhhh... hahahahaha!

later that day, my girlfriends asked me out to grab some late night dessert with them at a nearby perkins location to catch up on some things about life, work and other juicy matters. i picked out the brownie ala mode and my friend got the slice of apple pie.

hey everyone!!! i have never tried going for a military look but as soon as i got this army green romper from macy's, i knew i had to try it with my black boots. especially now that summer is almost over, i can probably transition this look to fall by adding some tights/leggings, yes?

outfit: macy's romper, sirens boots, divi owl necklace, f21 shades

anyway, so i know most of you reading my blog are fashion bloggers too.. some of you might have photographers who take your outfits photos, but i know some of you, like me, take pictures using the camera timer with a tripod (or not).

well.. have you ever had a time when you were trying out different poses and all of a sudden someone caught you taking pictures of yourself. everytime i read it in other blogs, i always find it funny because i can relate to it.

take these photos for example.. as you may have noticed, there isn't much variety in the photos. that's because in the middle of the shoot, my neighbor went out in the back lane and saw taking photos of myself. we even had that awkward moment where i was trying to wait for the 10-second timer and she was just standing there staring at me. wahahahahahaha!

have you ever had those awkward moments while taking self timer photos? what happened? what did you end up doing?

since we're on the final stretch of summer, im trying my best to wear florals, bright colors and denim all in one outfit. the weather has been up and down.. from a sunny morning to windy afternoon to a chilly night. it's weird, im telling you..

don't you think this outfit looks a bit 90's?! i think i even made it more funky with my hair up and those chains. hahahaha! it's nice to exaggerate once in a while...

outfit: gap denim shirt, vintage romper, divi chain necklaces, aldo wedges, forever21 rings

anyway, just like my title says.. i need some skin care advice especially from those of you who have full time jobs and want to maintain looking fresh the whole day. let me tell you first that i have EXTREMELY oily skin so before you recommend anything, i hope you take that into consideration.

im currently looking for the following products:
1. facial toner that won't break me out
2. facial scrub & facial mask - drugstore brand
3. make up foundation - not heavy, won't break me out and affordable (also, i prefer a liquid one)
4. oh and what brush do you use for your foundation

i would really love it if you can recommend something to me.
